Information We Collect
When you request a cleaning or create an account with Golden Gate Cleaners, we collect information to provide our services:
- Contact Information: Your name, email address, phone number, and home address
- Payment Information: We securely collect a payment token through Square for your card on file. We never store your actual credit card numbers. Square handles that securely on our behalf.
- Service Preferences: Your cleaning preferences, frequency preferences, and any special instructions for your home
- Service History: Records of your cleanings, scheduling, and communication with us
- Before/After Photos: With your consent at booking, cleaners take photos of work areas to verify the service was completed. See the "In-Home Photos" section below for details.
- Device Information: Through Google Analytics (only when you grant consent), we collect information about how you use our website (pages visited, time spent, general device type)
How We Use Your Information
We use your information for these specific purposes:
- Scheduling and managing your cleanings
- Processing payments and sending invoices
- Communicating with you about your account, cleanings, and bookings
- Sending booking confirmations and service reminders
- Improving our service and website based on how customers interact with us
- Complying with legal obligations
We never use your information for marketing emails unless you specifically opt in. We also never sell your information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
Information Sharing
We only share your information with trusted partners who help us run Golden Gate Cleaners:
- Supabase: Our database provider that securely stores your account information
- Square: Our payment processor that handles card processing and invoicing
- Resend: Our email delivery service that sends confirmations and notifications
- Twilio: Our SMS provider for text-message updates (only when you opt in)
- Google Analytics: Website analytics that show us how visitors use our site, loaded only after you grant cookie consent
- Google Places: Address autocomplete when you enter your home address during booking
- Vercel: Our website hosting provider that processes web requests and provides performance analytics
- Sentry: Error monitoring that helps us fix bugs (collects technical error data, not personal information)
Important: We never sell your personal information to anyone. We may only share your information if required by law, court order, or in response to a valid legal request.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to improve your experience:
- Session Cookies: Help keep you logged into your account
- Google Analytics Cookies: Track how you use our website so we can improve it
You can manage cookie preferences through the consent banner on our website. Most web browsers also allow you to control cookies through your browser settings.
In-Home Photos
With your consent at booking, our cleaners take before/after photos of work areas to verify that the service was completed well. These photos help us maintain quality, resolve any concerns about service, and confirm that we left your home in good shape.
- What we photograph: Work areas only — kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and surfaces being cleaned. Cleaners are instructed not to photograph personal items, mail, photos, valuables, or other private effects.
- Where they're stored: Photos are stored on Supabase Storage with restricted access. Only Golden Gate Cleaners staff with a need to review them can view them.
- How long we keep them: Photos are retained for 90 days after each service, then deleted. Photos associated with billing disputes or complaints may be retained longer for the duration of the dispute.
- How to opt out: Visit your communication preferences to disable photo documentation, or email privacy@sanfranciscogoldengatecleaners.com. We will let your cleaner know not to photograph.
Email Marketing
Transactional emails (booking confirmations, invoices, scheduling, magic-link sign-ins) are sent as part of providing your service. Promotional emails are only sent if you specifically opt in.
- Email marketing: Opt-in at booking or via communication preferences. Every promotional email includes a one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. You can also reply to any email to unsubscribe.
- How we honor opt-outs: Unsubscribes are processed immediately. We do not re-send to anyone who has opted out except for transactional messages directly related to a service you booked.
SMS / Text Messaging
When you opt in to text messages from Golden Gate Cleaners, we use SMS to send service-related updates only. SMS opt-in is separate from your booking submission and is never required to book a cleaning.
- Message types: booking confirmations, day-before reminders, cleaner arrival ETA, invoice links, and direct replies to service inquiries.
- Message frequency: approximately 1–3 messages per cleaning.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply, as set by your mobile carrier.
- Opt-out: reply STOP to any text to unsubscribe immediately. Confirmation of opt-out is automatic. You can also disable SMS in your communication preferences.
- Help: reply HELP to any text for assistance, or email hello@sanfranciscogoldengatecleaners.com.
- Re-subscribe: text START to resume receiving messages after opting out.
- Mobile information sharing: we do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Phone numbers and SMS engagement data are used solely to deliver service messages through our SMS provider (Twilio) and are not transferred to advertising networks, affiliates, or data brokers.
- Data retention: SMS opt-in timestamps and message history are retained per the schedule in "Data Retention" below.
Data Security
We take your security seriously:
- Payment information is encrypted and processed securely through Square
- Your account data is encrypted in our database
- All our cleaners are background-checked before joining our team
- We use industry-standard security practices to protect against unauthorized access
While we do our best to protect your information, no online system is 100% secure. If you have security concerns, please contact us immediately.
Your Rights Under California Law (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Know: You can request what personal information we have collected about you
- Right to Delete: You can request that we delete your personal information (with some exceptions for business records)
- Right to Opt-Out: You can opt out of the sale of your personal information (though we don't sell your data)
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights
How to Exercise Your Rights: To request deletion of your data, the fastest way is the Delete My Data button in your account settings — we'll process it within 45 days as required by California law. For other requests, email us at privacy@sanfranciscogoldengatecleaners.com or call (415) 423-8537. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as we need it. Different categories have different retention windows:
- Account information (name, contact, address): retained while your account is active. On a deletion request, scrubbed within 45 calendar days.
- Booking and service history: retained for one year after your last service, then archived or deleted. We may keep records longer where required by tax or audit obligations.
- Invoices and payment records: retained for at least four years per California Revenue & Taxation Code and IRS recordkeeping rules. After a deletion request, these records are kept but unlinked from your identity.
- Photos: 90 days after each service, then deleted.
- Messages and support communications: one year, then deleted.
- Marketing preferences (opt-in/opt-out timestamps): retained indefinitely so we honor your choices.
- Web analytics data: retained per Google Analytics defaults; only collected when you grant consent via the cookie banner.
Children's Privacy
Golden Gate Cleaners is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us right away.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will update this page with any changes and will notify you by email for significant changes. Your continued use of Golden Gate Cleaners after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
